There are no altitude limits for Jeff Oldham!
Most of us have no memories of our infancy. Jeff Oldham doesn’t remember this directly, but his mother told him a number of times that when he was a baby, nothing fascinated him more than the sights and sounds of airplanes flying overhead. It’s no surprise, then, that right out of high school (where he was #1 in the state in, wouldn't you know it, the pole vault, holding his high school record for over a decade), he enlisted in the army as a helicopter crew chief, with the dream of being a helicopter pilot. After 3 years in the army during the Vietnam conflict, Jeff became a skilled pilot—of small planes, hang-gliders, ultra-light aircraft and even flying boats (which he piloted while living in Negril, Jamaica). There’s more! Fascinated by great birds of prey—flyers par excellence—Jeff took up the sport of falconry. “I love the precision, the discipline, the attention to detail and the sheer beauty of this ancient sport,” he says.
 New Challenges Daily
No one’s going to accuse this Indiana native of being colorless. It’s not going to happen! Besides his high-flying pursuits, Jeff loves surfing, saltwater fishing, horseback riding, hiking and more. “I’m not one to sit still for long,” he reveals. “I always have to be doing something, learning something, accomplishing something. Every day there are new challenges. Isn’t that what makes life exciting and worth living?”
Of Highest Importance
But it’s not all about energetic pastimes and challenges met. In the personal realm, nothing is more important to Jeff than his family. He’s devoted to his three daughters—two of them grown, Alyssa and Heather; and one in her late teens, Shiloh. He also delights in and dotes on his 10 grandchildren. “I never thought I’d be so proud of being a grandpa,” Jeff says, “but I am!”
