About Rancho Cucamonga, California:
Rancho Cucamonga was incorporated in 1978 and work promptly began on a comprehensive master plan. Due to the fact that much of the city was vacant land at that time there was a great opportunity for people of vision to craft a new city with parks, trails, walking paths, schools and shopping centers. The planning department virtually stopped development until the master plan was finalized. The city of Rancho Cucamonga is so detailed in it’s planning that the smallest details are given attention. The Target store in the Terra Vista Shopping Center was the first to have a granite front. Landscape elements are given special attention in all new commercial developments. The fire departments look like monuments to public safety. City streets in the new residential neighborhoods are planned to promote safety. These are just a few of the details incorporated into Rancho Cucamonga’s master plan.
New development includes The Victoria Gardens Shopping Mall with retailers Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, Macy’s, Abercrombie & Fitch, Borders Books and many others. There are numerous restaurants including The Yard House, The Cheesecake Factory, Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que and P.F. Chang's China Bistro. These newer restaurants compliment The Sycamore Inn which opened in 1848 and The Magic Lamp, the landmark California prime steak house located on Route 66 since 1955. Victoria gardens will open a Bass Pro Shop in 2007.
Adjacent to Victoria Gardens is the newly opened Victoria Gardens Cultural Center featuring the Lewis Family Playhouse is an intimate, state of the art, performing arts center with 536 seats on two levels. The Victoria Gardens Library is designed to engage visitors of all ages in the learning experience. This center of knowledge offers books, media and experiential programs designed to spark the imagination in everyone. Another part of the center is Celebration Hall, the perfect location for unique theatre and library partnership programming. This venue also provides for banquets, receptions, and more.
Crowned by the beautiful San Gabriel mountains, Rancho Cucamonga boasts planned communities and award-winning architecture in addition to a quality, family lifestyle. A heritage of vineyards, ranchos, orchards, and wineries are reflected in historic buildings that meld with the newer, suburban developments.
Housing is primarily single-family, complemented by over 20 neighborhood and community parks including the RC Epicenter, a world class minor league baseball stadium which is currently the home of the California League Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. For golf lovers, the Arnold Palmer-signature Empire Lakes championship golf course opened in 1995.
